Good morning Guys Who Give! If you missed the meeting, here is a recap:
Our meeting was sponsored by Morgan Stanley and hosted by the Sycamore Country Club, thank you to both for being so generous!
First we heard from Terry Hogan on behalf of Miracle on 7th Street. Terry explained that the organization would like to purchase new, heavy duty barricades that would be filled with water and would provide more protection for attendees of the Miracle on 7th Street event on the 1st Friday in December, but also for other downtown events. The barricades will cost around $8,000 total and are guaranteed to last 10 years.
Next, we heard from John Moats on behalf of the Vigo County Historical Society. The Historical Society is set to move into their new location on Wabash Avenue in June which means they need to start preparing to move exhibits and get the new building ready. John said that this money would go towards waterproofing the basement, one of the projects that the Historical Society needs to accomplish to get the building move-in ready.
Last but not least, member Cary Albin introduced Tim Ramseier who spoke on behalf of Youth for Christ. After giving a brief introduction of the organization, Tim explained that the funding from Guys Who Give would go towards training youth workers through a retreat to assist kids in the age range of 11-19 years old in the school system with bullying, depression, suicide prevention and help in situations following trauma.
The membership voted and the winner was….A TIE! For the first time in my time with Guys Who Give, we had a tie between Miracle on 7th Street and Youth for Christ, so we passed vote tickets around and had the present members vote between the tied organizations and the winner was…
Miracle on 7th Street!
