IMPACT Newsletter Correction

The Winter 2010 IMPACT newsletter incorrectly reported Bill Tennis, executive director of Goodwill Industries, was retiring. The article titled, The Dictionary Project Rolls On! should have stated the Board of Goodwill Industries endowed dictionaries for the three third grade classrooms at West Vigo in appreciation of Bill Tennis and in honor of his father, Jerome Tennis, the school’s first principal.

Scholarship Applications now available

Scholarship applications for the 2011 school year are now available. Click here to download the application. The application must be postmarked by December 15 for consideration.

Cruising Around in Terre Haute

The Wabash Valley Community Foundation participated in the 2010 "Cruising around in Terre Haute" project. "Cruising around in Terre Haute" is fundraiser for the Swope Art Museum, featuring mini cars. The project was inspired by the success of the colts project in 2007.

For $40, You Can Provide a Dictionary to a Third Grade Student in the Wabash Valley...Forever

The idea for The Dictionary Project began in 1992 when Annie Plummer gave 50 dictionaries to children who attended a Georgia school close to her home. She didn't stop there. In her lifetime she raised the money to buy 17,000 dictionaries for children. To date, The Dictionary Project has delivered more than 1.25 million dictionaries to 3rd grade students all over the United States.
