The Wabash Valley Community Foundation assists in broad-based community projects by receiving contributions for specific projects, obtaining grants from other funding sources or providing matching funds to support projects or build endowment.
The Community Foundation in partnership with the United Way of the Wabash Valley and Indiana State University sponsored COMPASS II which collected infomration about the social service needs and assets of the area and developed an action plan to address those needs. The two year study determined the top issues facing the Wabash Valley are:
- Economic Development
- Poverty, Health Care and Child Care
- Racial and Ethnic Discriimination
- Family Stability: Alcohol, Drug and Domestic Abuse
- Literacy; and
- Leadership Development.
