Through the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, area nonprofit agencies can create endowment funds that provide those agencies with a dependable and established source of income. The annual income from an endowment fund provides flexibility and another means to address their goals.

Publicly supported 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations may be particularly interested in an endowment fund when they want to:

  • Create a "foundation" for the 501(c)(3) without incurring the costs and delay of creating and filing organizing documents, applying for exemption with the Internal Revenue Service, filing separate tax form 990s, and meeting the public support test on an ongoing basis
  • Concentrate efforts on their charitable mission and benefit from the Foundation's expertise in long-term investment and management of funds
  • Utilize the Community Foundation's staff to talk with those people who support the agency annually to endow their annual contributions.

For more information, please contact the Community Foundation at 812-232-2234. The Foundation's staff is readily available to answer your questions or provide assistance.
