The Foundation was incorporated and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a public charity in 1991. The growth of this organization has been tremendous. Currently, the Wabash Valley Community Foundation has endowed assets exceeding $24 million with more than $3 million in expected contributions from planned gifts and grants.

The Community Foundation is designed for one primary purpose: to receive, invest, and manage charitable contributions as permanent endowments according to the charitable intentions of the donors. Typically, the charitable gifts come from individuals, families, organizations, corporations, and other foundations. The income earned on the endowed fund is distributed each year for the purpose defined by the fund creator. The Wabash Valley Community Foundation Inc. is a wonderful vehicle to use in creating and developing a lasting endowment in the community.
